Welcome to our Festival site! We hope your visit will be a pleasure which will lead you to the delights of this and other Festivals in the area. The Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002 saw the start of our community Arts Festival, with participation from young and old, professional and ‘amateur’, experienced and those just beginning to explore the arts. Since then there has been a steady enlargement of programme, participation, and interest from many far-flung places.
Planning for Festival 2009 is now well under way. We are very pleased to be able to announce that the opening event on Tuesday 25th August will be the well-known Operababes, booked to perform in the unusual surroundings of St John’s Church On Friday 28th August we will be welcoming the Sole Bay Jazz band to the town. Other highlights planned for the week include a writer’s workshop with author Sarah Bower, a musical supper at Gurney’s Bistro, performance poetry for children, a heritage walk around the town and the author Terence Blacker at Wingfield Barns. Box office for all events will open in May; meanwhile you can use this site to post enquiries or ring 01379 854385. We will post more details here soon.
