FASCINATING AÏDA - Tuesday 19th August, 7.30pm. Tickets £15/£12 concessions.

Hot from a successful run in the West End and the Edinburgh Festival, this multi-award-winning band brings their outrageously frank and funny show to Harleston.

 

LUNCHTIME CONCERT in St John’s Church 12noon - Wednesday August 20th  

An exciting young duo, just breaking into the modern classical music scene, Westcott and Rodway combine acoustic guitar and piano to make them sound as though they have a whole band at their fingertips.

JAZZ SUPPER at Gurney’s Bistro from 7.30pm on Wednesday August 20th  

Combine splendid cuisine with a generous helping of jazz acoustic guitarists

(Terence Blacker & Derek Hewitson) and you have a very convivial, relaxed evening.

ROGER DEAKIN Retrospective – Thursday 21st August 7.30pm.  Tickets £8

This event, which will offer a rare opportunity to hear and see Roger Deakin’s TV, radio and written work, with contributions and memories from some of his friends, will also mark the   re-launch of Wingfield college yard.

 

 

 

MARK COCKER in conversation - Saturday 23rd August 12 noon. Tickets £6 to include refreshments

Take this opportunity to hear award winning author Mark Cocker reading from his work and discussing, with Terence Blacker, the birds and the wildlife of Norfolk and beyond.

FREE EVENTS:

 

FESTIVAL ART WORKSHOP for young people and families on Thursday 24th JULY 10 - 4 at the library in Swan Lane. Produce street decorations for festival week! The workshop will be lead by professional artist Paul Cope. You can book a place by calling the library on 01379 852549.

 

AFRICAN DRUMMING: Saturday 23rd August– a workshop for children 7 to 12 years old. This event will be held in King George Hall from 3 - 4pm. It is a free event but must be pre-booked.

 

EXHIBITION in St John’s Saturday 23rd August 10 am - 4pm

This is the exhibition put on for the judges of the Town of the Year Competition, held earlier this year. It is a splendid picture of Harleston 2008. Bungay Camera Club and Harleston Community Crafts are also joining in. Refreshments and light lunches available.

 

HERITAGE WALK around Harleston Saturday 23rd August

Led by Gordon Lascelles, this starts from St John’s at 2.30pm

 

 

FAMILY FUN DAY, Bank Holiday Monday on the Recreation ground 11am - 5pm

Come and join in: a fun day for the whole family, with activities, classic cars, music, stalls and refreshments including a bar. Other events still being organised!
